Day 5 and 6 of our Europe Trip
Monday 14th March / Tuesday 15th March
After a refreshing shower, we drove to Bordeaux and spent the morning there. It is the centre of the famous wine-growing region and so after a fleeting visit, we headed to wine country! On France Passion, we found a vineyard, Chateau La Rose Cots Rol and the owner, Pierre very kindly gave us a tour and wine tasting. We then spent the evening drinking a bottle (or two), eating cheese and watching the sunset.
I know I’ve said this already, but this to date is my new favourite place. Everywhere you look a stunning vineyard view, or a charming chateau. We had a lovely day and met some great friends (a big hello if you’re reading!)
It was so lovely, we stayed another night and the following day we walked into Saint Emillion, a medieval city, with the most charming streets and winding paths. The food was exceptional and the underground tour was fascinating.
Oh, and before I forget, a particular highlight was the macaroons, aside from being known for its wine, it is another speciality they are known for. I recommend the orange or chocolate flavours.
I really could write forever about this area but lets just say we had the best time and we will definitely be back!
